What Does The Way of Self-Discovery Really Give Us?

Embarking on the path of self-discovery is crucial if we aspire to take control of our lives and empower ourselves to choose between moments of inspiration and destruction.

Growing our awareness of the reality of life provides us with this option.

While external events are beyond our control, our reactions to them can be within our grasp if we begin to awaken to this possibility.

Negative impacts on us are inevitable. Pain and sadness are part of life, with death being a natural reality.

Suffering occurs when we cling to things that are no longer part of our lives in the way we desire them to be. It stems from the expectations of the mind.

Our choices are as follows:

  1. Do we continue to cling to the idea that we can only find contentment if things were different in our external life situation, which we cannot change?

  2. Do we remain prepared to grow and navigate ourselves through challenging times, learning about ourselves, allowing time and space for grief, gathering energy in ways that are possible, and focusing on new times with different forms of fulfillment?

The first choice is the path of self-destruction:

We cannot truly control our life events. Everything in the world undergoes natural transformation with the flow of life. Change is the fundamental nature of life. If we do not learn to be aware of this truth and be humble with life itself, suffering is inevitable, leading to periods of self-destruction.

The second choice is the path of wisdom, authenticity, and growth:

When we open up to the truth of changes, we learn to live with it more and more. This path is a journey of continuous growth, transforming pain into new inspirations, adapting to new circumstances, and creating different ways of self-expression. We become more anchored in our innate source, feeling good about who we are, not because of what we have or who we have next to us but simply for being deeply connected to our inner source of energy.

Like everything else in life, this is also a process. Being aware of these choices does not mean that we can shift from one state to another overnight. Redirecting our energy focus happens in cycles through life events when we can practice letting go of people and things that hold meaning to us.

The pain of these phases naturally leads us to the suffering, draining our energy level, making it normal to feel low for a while. In these phases, it is challenging to be consciously aware of our choices. Negative feelings of loss grip our minds with their negative thought patterns and trap us in a dark room.

However, waking up to the two options gives us the decision to strive towards the second choice even in times like these. We can always remind ourselves that, like everything, this time will also pass. We will gradually start gathering new energy and have more possibilities to build new ways.

In times of darkness, we can allow ourselves to feel the pain and, at the same time, make it clear to ourselves: it is temporary, the pain will go away, and we can figure out other ways to arrange our world with elements of joy and fulfillment.

Thus, our conscious awareness will continuously grow, the phases of suffering will become shorter, and we will notice emerging from the dark ditch faster than before, leaving us with longer phases of ease and joy, with a wider range of horizons from which to choose among the infinite possibilities of life.

Tip:

You can intentionally grow your conscious awareness by asking yourself the following questions frequently what reminds you about the consequences of your actions:

"What do I truly want to experience in my life:

  1. random changes of phases between feeling good and suffering, or

  2. taking control over how I feel in life and live in growing phases of ease, joy and inspiration?"
